The Fort Lauderdale Flying L will take on the Coral Glades Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Lauderdale is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
While Fort Lauderdale's victory against Cypress Bay wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Fort Lauderdale sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over Cypress Bay on Wednesday.
Kylie Keenan made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Quinn McFadden, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Taniyah Hicks was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Coral Glades). They were the clear victor by a 16-1 margin over Plantation on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Colonels: they've now won four in a row.
Coral Glades let Dominque Soto and Cameron Marques run wild. Soto scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Marques scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Briana Escobar, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Coral Glades always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .733. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Fort Lauderdale's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Coral Glades, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
Fort Lauderdale beat Coral Glades 3-0 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Does Fort Lauderdale have another victory up their sleeve, or will Coral Glades turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
