The Robinson Knights came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Steinbrenner 68-46. That looming 68-46 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Robinson yet this season.
Leading Robinson to victory were LaJesse Harrold and Jordan Mickens. Harrold dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, while Mickens dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 assists. Mickens hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Donevon Kelly, who scored 15 points.
Despite the loss, Steinbrenner still got an impressive performance from Manny Torres, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Torres pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Miller, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
Steinbrenner struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They are winless (0-3) when they just don't pass the ball.
Robinson is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Steinbrenner, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-17.
Robinson and Wharton will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Wharton is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. As for Steinbrenner, they will take on Sunlake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Sunlake focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Thursday.
