The Lockland Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their 13th straight loss. They fell 32-21 to New Miami. The loss was just more heartbreak for Lockland, who fell 42-40 when the teams last met back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Lockland still got an impressive performance from Jaylah Smith, who scored eight points along with 25 rebounds and six blocks. Smith hasn't dropped below two blocks for 13 straight games. Another player making a difference was Breonna Farley-dawson, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and five steals.
Lockland dropped their record down to 2-19 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.5 points per game. As for New Miami, their victory bumped their record up to 5-14.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lockland will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against North College Hill at 6:00 p.m. on February 8th. Lockland comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for New Miami, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against School for Creative Performing Arts at 6:00 p.m. on February 8th. New Miami is facing School for Creative Performing Arts at the right time seeing as School for Creative Performing Arts is stuck on a eight-game losing streak.
