King's Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Pinewood Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. King's Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Pinewood likes a good challenge.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 11 more assists than your opponent, a fact King's Academy proved on Tuesday. They took down Priory 65-48. Given King's Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 193rd, while Priory is ranked 674th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
King's Academy found their leader in underclassman Xavier Barnett, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Barnett has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Hughey, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Pinewood came up short against Harker on Tuesday and fell 62-50.
King's Academy's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.8 points per game. As for Pinewood, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.
Everything went King's Academy's way against Pinewood in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as King's Academy made off with a 95-70 win. With King's Academy ahead 62-29 at the half, the game was all but over already.
