Coronado is a perfect 5-0 against Sierra Vista since August of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Cougars will square off against the Mountain Lions at 6:00 p.m. Coronado will be strutting in after a win while Sierra Vista will be coming in after a defeat.
Coronado is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Foothill, who was ranked 12th at the time (Coronado was ranked second). The Cougars put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 3-0 victory on Monday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
The victory didn't come easy: Foothill scored at least 18 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-20, 25-19.

NAKISA FRIEDMAN was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had 19 digs and two aces. That's the most digs she has posted since back in September. TOMMIE OLINGER also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.
Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Sierra Vista's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Doral Academy Red Rock by a score of 3-2.
Sierra Vista wouldn't go down easily and took Doral Academy Red Rock into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-23, 23-25, 21-25, 15-9.
Coronado's win bumped their record up to 20-7. As for Sierra Vista, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 17-10.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Coronado has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5.6 aces per game. However, it's not like Sierra Vista struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.9 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
