Basketball Recap: Jerzey Ochoa and Kynzi Fehringer Secure Win for Stanton County

Stanton County lost to South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] back in December of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Stanton County Trojans strolled past the South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] Patriots with points to spare, taking the game 48-34. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.

Stanton County was led to victory by Kynzi Fehringer and Jerzey Ochoa. Fehringer posted 14 points, while Ochoa earned 13 points and three steals. Those 13 points gave Ochoa a new career-high. Mia Miravete was another key player, putting up eight points and five boards.

Stanton County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in ten consecutive contests.

Despite the defeat, South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sarah Elmore had 17 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Those three blocks set a new season-high mark for Elmore. Callie Hinds also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

The win got Stanton County back to even at 6-6. As for South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett], the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 6-4 record.

Stanton County has already played their next game, a 42-29 defeat against Syracuse on the 31st. As for South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett], they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 54-27 loss against Cheyenne Wells on the 31st.
