Purdue Polytechnic's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Tri Titans as they made off with a 9-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Techies, who have now won ten matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Diego Briceno Vega made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Jackson Jeffers was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Nevan Jeffers, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Purdue Polytechnic has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Tri, they dropped their record down to 1-14-1 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.
