The Kenwood Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their ninth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 83-51 loss at the hands of Lyon County. While losing is never fun, Kenwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 378th in Tennessee, while Lyon County is ranked 90th in Kentucky).
When it comes to explaining why Kenwood lost, one person who can't be blamed is Yazmine Pearson. Despite the final result, she scored 31 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pearson has scored all season. Sy?nya Seay was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Kenwood has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-21 record this season. As for Lyon County, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kenwood will face off against West Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Creek is coming into the game with seven straight defeats at home, meaning Kenwood will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. As for Lyon County, they will head out on the road to face off against Hopkins County Central at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
