Basketball Recap: Brynlee Richardson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Central Texas Christian over Live Oak Classical

Central Texas Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 32-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Live Oak Classical Falcons. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1224th, while the Falcons are ranked 566th).

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brynlee Richardson, who posted six points and 17 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Richardson a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Destin Stringfellow, who scored nine points and three steals.

Live Oak Classical's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ashlyn Helton, who put up five points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Audrey Pahmiyer, who earned 12 points and five steals.

Central Texas Christian's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Live Oak Classical, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.

Central Texas Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 26-24 victory against Covenant on the 31st. As for Live Oak Classical, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-23 win against Keystone on the 1st.
