The Alcester-Hudson Cubs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. The contest between Alcester-Hudson and Garretson wasn't particularly close, with Alcester-Hudson falling 57-39.
Despite the loss, Alcester-Hudson still got an impressive performance from Elly Doering, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. That was a full 48.7% of Alcester-Hudson's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Delta Pies, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Alcester-Hudson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Alcester-Hudson's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-6. As for Garretson, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alcester-Hudson will take on Irene/Wakonda at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Irene/Wakonda is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Garretson will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Hill City at 10:30 a.m. on January 20th.
