CAMARILLO, Calif. - the Scorpions scored 27 points in the first quarter to secure a big 43-7 victory over Rio Mesa (Oxnard, Calif.) on Saturday.
Camarillo scored on a passing touchdown, a rushing touchdown, a touchdown run by
Ray Thomas and a touchdown run in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a passing touchdown in the first quarter, CHS led 35-0 at the half.
The Scorpions expanded their lead to 43 points entering the fourth quarter. Camarillo scored once in the quarter on a passing touchdown.
With the win CHS extended its winning streak to eight games. Camarillo defeated Hueneme 42-0 last week.
Rio Mesa's only touchdown came on a 2-yard run by Justin Vela in the fourth quarter.
The Scorpions came into the game allowing 14.2 points per game. The seven points that the Spartans ended with were well below their average of 18.3 coming into the game.
The loss was the fourth in a row for Rio Mesa.
