The Tom Bean Tomcats will challenge the Sam Rayburn Rebels at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Tom Bean comes in on four and Sam Rayburn on three.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Tom Bean and Whitewright have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Tomcats blew past the Tigers 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Tomcats, who have now won 12 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Dyson Farris was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Donnie Hooten was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Tom Bean always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Sam Rayburn beat Honey Grove 7-2 on Tuesday.
Jamison Dorris made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Dorris was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Case Nichols, who went 2-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and one run. Those triples were his first of the season.
Tom Bean's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Sam Rayburn, their win bumped their record up to 14-7-1.
Tom Bean took their victory against Sam Rayburn when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 16-3 score. Do the Tomcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rebels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
