It was a good run, but the Midway/Minto Mustangs unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 65-52 to St. John.
St. John's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alani Morin, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Morin continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaycee Desjarlais, who scored nine points along with 13 rebounds and eight assists.
Midway/Minto's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2. As for St. John, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
Midway/Minto will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Langdon/Edmore/Munich at 7:30 p.m. Langdon/Edmore/Munich knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Midway/Minto likes a good challenge. As for St. John, they will head out on the road to face off against North Border co-op [Walhalla/Pembina] at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Border co-op [Walhalla/Pembina] is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
