The Jackson-Reed Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 49-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of King's Fork. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Jackson-Reed came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked seventh in District of Columbia, while King's Fork is ranked 94th in Virginia).
Jackson-Reed's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Lucia Nawer, who scored ten points along with three steals, and Aminyah Muhammed who scored six points along with nine rebounds. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for her.
Jackson-Reed's loss dropped their record down to 5-5-1. As for King's Fork, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
Jackson-Reed will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on McKinley Tech at 5:30 p.m. on January 8th. As for King's Fork, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Western Branch at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
