On Friday, the Lafayette Lions faced the Peabody Warhorses in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Lafayette's tough 59-37 defeat to Peabody might stick with them for a while. Lafayette's defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Justin Burns continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Peabody, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 20 rebounds. Burns is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Jordan Mathews was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Lafayette's defeat dropped their record down to 11-2. As for Peabody, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Northside the next time they take the court. Peabody will host Northside at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Lafayette will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
