Hackleburg has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Coosa Christian Conquerors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Hackleburg's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven games.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Hackleburg had no problem doing just that on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 33-18 victory over the Tigers. The score was all tied up 12-12 at the break, but Hackleburg was the (much) better team in the second half.
Blaise Vickery was a one-man wrecking crew for Hackleburg as he rushed for 92 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 225 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per attempt.
Meanwhile, Coosa Christian stacked a ninth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. Everything went their way against Lynn as Coosa Christian made off with a 28-6 victory. The victory was familiar territory for Coosa Christian who now have six in a row.
Coosa Christian can attribute much of their success to Josh Hester, who rushed for 113 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries.
Hackleburg has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 11-1 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.8 points per game. As for Coosa Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 10-1-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Hackleburg has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 226.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Coosa Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 219.9 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Hackleburg was taken down by Coosa Christian 51-8 in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Can Hackleburg avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
