Truckee (Calif.) scored 21 points in the first quarter to secure a big 35-0 victory over Elko (Nev.) on Saturday.
The Wolverines scored on a punt return touchdown, a
Lowden Smith touchdown pass to
Zak Pettit and a
Tyler Griffin touchdown run in the quarter.
Truckee was up 21-0 at the half after taking the lead on a punt return touchdown in the first quarter.
THS expanded its lead to 35 points entering the fourth quarter. The Wolverines scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run.
Truckee's standout player in the win was Smith. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown and kicked five extra points.
THS also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 27-6.
With the win the Wolverines extended their winning streak to three games.
In a 1A Northern game next week Truckee (3-0) takes on Sparks, and Elko (1-2) will go up against Churchill County also in a 1A Northern game.
