AAA Region 4 recap October 29, 2013
Curtis Davenport of Central ran for the longest rushing play in AAA Region 4 this season against Jackson last week. Davenport ran for 99 yards on the play and finished with 134 on the day as his team defeated the Jaguars.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Callaway beat Business Engineering Science Tech 28-18. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Lamar Daniel made the biggest impact on defense this week as Central beat Jackson. The 6-foot-1 defensive end racked up 3 sacks.
Orenzo Smith was the best wideout in the league this week as Eric Williams' team lost to Rico Zachary's team. Smith tallied 5 receptions for 134 yards. Quintavious Monday helped Jackson's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 30 yards.
The Jaguars' Keenan Moore and Smith led AAA Region 4 in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Moore has thrown for 2,297 yards this season, while Smith has 40 catches for 1,029 yards. The Eagles' Deshawn Waller leads the league in rushing yards with 1,131.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Chapel Hill takes on the Lions. At the moment, the Panthers are in fourth, while Central is in second.
Chapel Hill led the league in scoring this week after putting up 58 points on Haralson County.
