The Sparta Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Forsyth Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sparta will aim to continue their five-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
On Tuesday, Sparta got the win against Seymour by a conclusive 15-6. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.
Addie Humble spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Layne Forgey and Kinsley Berry did most of the damage at the plate: Forgey got on base in two of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Berry went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Berry a new career-high. Hayden Holt also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Forsyth beat Reeds Spring 10-7 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.
Lauren Turner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Turner was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Forsyth let Zoe White and Lili Roberts run wild. White went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Roberts went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
Sparta's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Forsyth, their record is now 10-14.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Sparta has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .462. However, it's not like Forsyth struggles in that department as they've averaged .446. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sparta suffered a grim 11-3 defeat to Forsyth in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
