The Williams Valley Vikings will be playing in front of their home fans against the New Covenant Christian Flames at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Williams Valley pushed their score all the way to 65 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 76-65 to Nativity BVM. Williams Valley has not had much luck with Nativity BVM recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Meanwhile, New Covenant Christian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against Covenant Christian Academy by a score of 53-41.
Tycen VanDerPloog was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Sam Balsbaugh, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Williams Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for New Covenant Christian, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Williams Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against New Covenant Christian in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 68-62 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was New Covenant Christian's Ben Hartman, who scored 36 points.
