Basketball Recap: Front Range Baptist Piles Up the Points Against Mile High Academy

Front Range Baptist won the last time they faced Mile High Academy and things went their way on Thursday too. The Front Range Baptist Falcons breezed past the Mile High Academy Mustangs to the tune of 65-19. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 20 points or more this season.

Leading Front Range Baptist to victory were Benjamin VanDenBerghe and Mark Sutton. VanDenBerghe went 9-for-16 en route to 20 points in addition to six steals and five boards, while Sutton dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. VanDenBerghe has become a key player for Front Range Baptist: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 15 points, but 6-7 otherwise. Ethan Pierce was another key player, putting up nine points.

Front Range Baptist smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 45 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Front Range Baptist has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.2 points over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Mile High Academy and nudges their season record down to 4-18.

Looking ahead, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Falcons take on the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Front Range Baptist is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.3 points per game this season. Mile High Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
