The Prescott Badgers entered their tilt with the Lee Williams Volunteers with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. Prescott really took it to the Volunteers for the full four quarters, racking up a 66-33 victory at home. Given Prescott's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Volunteers are ranked 149th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Prescott to victory were Zane Gaul and Uriah Tenette. Gaul almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds, while Tenette scored 23 points along with three steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Tenette has scored at least a third of Prescott's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Magnett, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Prescott has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season. As for Lee Williams, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Prescott and the Eagles will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Flagstaff is on a three-game streak of home wins, the Badgers a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Lee Williams, they will head out on the road to challenge the Thunderbirds at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Mohave has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 20.
