Last Friday, New London didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Bacon Academy, but they still walked away with a 52-46 win. Given New London's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Bacon Academy is ranked 42nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, after a string of ten wins, Woodstock Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell to Norwich Free Academy 41-37.
New London pushed their record up to 9-2 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Woodstock Academy, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-2.
New London strolled past Woodstock Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 48-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for New London since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
