The Karns City Gremlins will challenge the Clarion-Limestone Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Karns City is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Things were looking good for Karns City after they put the first run on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Moniteau by a score of 3-1. Gremlins fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Warriors since on Thursday.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clarion-Limestone). They never let Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley get on the board and left with a 9-0 win on Thursday. The Lions haven't had any issues with Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Logan Lutz made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayden Siwiecki, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one double. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Riley Rinker was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
Karns City dropped their record down to 4-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Clarion-Limestone, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Karns City has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Clarion-Limestone struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Karns City suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Clarion-Limestone in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Gremlins have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
