The Indians will be playing at home against the Pirates at 4:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Lake Central's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Merrillville has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
Lake Central is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Indiana's top teams: Crown Point, who was ranked eighth at the time (Lake Central was ranked sixth). The Indians came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 5-1 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won seven in a row.

Maddie Such spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kate Renschen, who went 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Taylor Schafer, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Merrillville came up short against Michigan City on Tuesday, falling 23-8.
Elani Alvarez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrianna McDonald, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Lake Central's win bumped their record up to 23-3. As for Merrillville, their loss dropped their record down to 2-20.
Merrillville's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Lake Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Merrillville, though, as they've been averaging only 1.7 strikeouts. Will Lake Central keep running through batters, or will the Pirates buck the trend?
