The Canton Little Giants waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 60-47 victory over Bloomington. Given Canton's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Bloomington is ranked 206th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Canton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Allison Wheeler, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Wheeler is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jena Goforth, who scored 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Canton is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. As for Bloomington, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-14.
Canton will take on Galesburg at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Bloomington, they will head out on the road to face off against Urbana at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Urbana is out to stop a ten-game streak of losses at home.
