The St. Francis Fighting Saints will head out on the road to square off against the Elk River Elks at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Francis is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
St. Francis barely beat Monticello the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Fighting Saints were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Magic on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Fighting Saints considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Sydney Borchert made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Alexa Skogquist and Grace Keding did most of the damage at the plate: Skogquist went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Keding went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Emily Meyer was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
St. Francis was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monticello only posted a batting average of .241.
Meanwhile, Elk River was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 13-1 to Blaine. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 9, 2018, but that streak is no more.
St. Francis' win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Elk River, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
St. Francis took their win against Elk River when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 8-2 score. Do the Fighting Saints have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Elks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
