The Millard South Patriots's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Lincoln High Links at 5:15 p.m. on January 13th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard on Saturday.
In what's become a running theme this season, Millard South gave their fans yet another huge win on Saturday. They blew past Papillion-LaVista 57-37. The victory was just what Millard South needed coming off of a 68-43 loss in their prior contest.
Bernie Anderson was his usual excellent self, scoring 15 points along with six steals. Another player making a difference was Isaac Jensen, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.
Meanwhile, Lincoln High's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 63-56 to Lincoln Northeast. Lincoln High has not had much luck with Lincoln Northeast recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the loss, Lincoln High saw an underclassman step up: Brady Nick scored 18 points.
Millard South's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-7. As for Lincoln High, they bumped their record down to 2-9 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home.
Keep an eye on the arc in Saturday's matchup: Millard South have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 7.4 threes per game. It's a different story for Lincoln High, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 threes per game. Given Millard South's sizeable advantage in that area, Lincoln High will need to find a way to close that gap.
Millard South couldn't quite finish off Lincoln High when the teams last played back in February of 2023 and fell 51-49.
