Brendan Johnson was his usual excellent self, scoring 30 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Calvert Hall's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyrin Bizzelle, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Meanwhile, Gilman's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. The match between them and Mount St. Joseph wasn't particularly close, with Gilman falling 72-53. While losing is never fun, Gilman can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while the Gaels are ranked sixth).
Calvert Hall is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-15 record this season. As for Gilman, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.
