Bertrand and Cambridge are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Bertrand Vikings will host the Cambridge Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bertrand will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Bertrand will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Kenesaw, who they had gone 1-6 against in their seven prior meetings. Bertrand strolled past Kenesaw with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 60-42. The Vikings pushed the score to 47-26 by the end of the third, a deficit the Blue Devils cut but never quite recovered from.

Bertrand's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Marcus Hernandez led the charge by going 7-for-14 en route to 16 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. The contest was Hernandez's ninth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Thunder Nelson, who posted 13 points in addition to seven steals and five boards.
Hernandez wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Bertrand was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Cambridge came up short against Alma on Friday and fell 49-41.
Bertrand will have to keep a close watch on Brady Ahlemeyer and Hodge Raburn, a pair of players who had a big impact on Cambridge's prior game. Ahlemeyer went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc to rack up 20 points, while Raburn put up 11 points and five rebounds. What's more, Ahlemeyer also posted a 67% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February of 2024.
Cambridge's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Bertrand, their victory bumped their record up to 18-5.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Bertrand has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Cambridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Bertrand lost to Cambridge at home by a decisive 62-48 margin in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Thankfully for Bertrand, Carson Trompke (who went 8-for-18 on his way to 25 points and eight boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
