The Blacksher Bulldogs are taking a road trip to take on the Robertsdale Golden Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
15 must be Blacksher's lucky number: they beat Chickasaw with that score not once but twice on Wednesday. The Bulldogs didn't even let the Chieftains on the board, marking the Bulldogs' second-straight 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Laney Saucer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kayleigh Patrick, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.
Blacksher was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of 1.000. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Robertsdale made easy work of Foley on Thursday and carried off a 17-1 win. The Golden Bears have beaten the Lions the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Lions has come to flipping the script.
Blakelynn Dunlavy was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kahlen Morgan, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Blacksher has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Robertsdale, they now have a winning record of 15-14.
Everything went Blacksher's way against Robertsdale in their previous matchup back in March, as Blacksher made off with a 16-10 win. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
