The Illiana Christian Vikings will head out on the road to challenge the Munster Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Illiana Christian is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
On Monday, Illiana Christian earned a 5-1 win over Highland.
Cayden Petersen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lydia VanderWoude was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. She has been hot, having posted two or more stolen bases the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Adeline Mulder, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Munster and Boone Grove had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Wolves on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won 11 matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Munster got a massive performance out of Caroline Wendlinger, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and three runs. Another player making a difference was Addy Biel, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Munster's victory was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 25-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Illiana Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 18-7.
Illiana Christian's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Vikings have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Munster, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Illiana Christian continue to outrun the ball?
Illiana Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Munster when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
