The Westminster Catawba Christian Indians pushed their score all the way to 62 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Burlington Christian Academy by a score of 64-62. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (59), Westminster Catawba Christian still had to take the loss.
Westminster Catawba Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Drew Quinn, who scored 21 points. It was the first time this season that Quinn scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Justin Rushin, who scored seven points along with five assists and five steals.
Even though they lost, Westminster Catawba Christian were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Burlington Christian Academy only posted ten assists.
Burlington Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaiah Smith out in front who scored 18 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Charles Chienggen Pur, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Westminster Catawba Christian dropped their record down to 18-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Burlington Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westminster Catawba Christian will take on the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hickory Grove Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Burlington Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Furies at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Forsyth Country Day's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
