After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bountiful, the Viewmont Vikings were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They managed a 68-64 victory over Box Elder. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Viewmont got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aubrey Mulitalo out in front who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mary Carr, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds.
Box Elder's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaydence Barber, who scored 21 points along with three steals. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for her. Ashlyn Wight was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five steals.
Viewmont is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Box Elder, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4.
Viewmont will take on Woods Cross at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Woods Cross is ranked 53rd, while Viewmont is ranked 56th). As for Box Elder, they will head out on the road to face off against Northridge at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
