Basketball Game Preview: Simmons Blue Devils vs. West Bolivar Eagles

Simmons is 10-0 against West Bolivar since February of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Simmons Blue Devils are taking a road trip to challenge the West Bolivar Eagles at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Simmons has 19 straight victories, West Bolivar has 33 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Simmons is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing North Side: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Simmons blew North Side out of the water with a 66-23 final score. The Blue Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 22 points or more this season.

Simmons got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Moesha Hoskins out in front who posted 11 points and six steals. Hoskins is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played. Akiah Prince was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 49-19, which was the final score in West Bolivar's tilt against Leland on Friday.

Simmons pushed their record up to 19-0 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 35.3 points. As for West Bolivar, their loss dropped their record down to 0-12.

Everything came up roses for Simmons against West Bolivar in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as the squad secured a 53-21 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Simmons since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
