After a string of four wins, the Rocky Hill Terriers's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. Their tough 61-39 loss to Newington might stick with them for a while. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Rocky Hill in their matchups with Newington: they've now lost eight in a row.
Bela Cucuta was her usual excellent self, scoring 34 points along with five rebounds and four steals for Newington. The matchup was Cucuta's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Stair, who scored four points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Rocky Hill's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3. As for Newington, their victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2.
Rocky Hill will take on Plainville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Newington, they will head out on the road to face off against Northwest Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
