Last Monday, it was a hard-fought match, but Concord Christian had to settle for a 66-64 loss against Grace Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, Concord Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 229th, while Grace Christian Academy is ranked 113th).
The losing side was boosted by Dominic Alford, who scored 28 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 steals. The game was his third in a row with at least ten points. Drew Sloan was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with 8 rebounds.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Berean Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 65-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lakeway Christian Academy. Berean Christian has not had much luck with Lakeway Christian Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Connor Copeland, who scored 19 points along with 3 steals. He scored a full 31.1% of Berean Christian's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Dalton Claiborne, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Concord Christian has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Berean Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Concord Christian hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 56.9 points per game. It's a different story for Berean Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 64.7 per game.
