The Northside Eagles lost against the Tift County Blue Devils back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Northside received a tough blow as they fell 64-45 to the Blue Devils. Northside has struggled against the Blue Devils recently, as their match on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Northside still got an impressive performance from Jordan Gaines, who scored 21 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gaines has scored all season. Chastan Brown was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Northside struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Tift County was led to victory by TeShawn Bryant and Mckyler Horne. Bryant scored 14 points along with five rebounds, while Horne scored four points along with seven assists and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Evans, who scored seven points.
Northside has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Tift County, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northside is on the road again on Saturday and plays the Warhawks at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Veterans knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matches -- so hopefully the Eagles like a good challenge. As for Tift County, they will head out on the road to square off against the Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Lee County is on a four-game streak of home wins, the Blue Devils a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
