University has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Timber Creek Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Timber Creek took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on University, who comes in off a win.
Even though University has not done well against the Titans recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. University walked away with a 45-33 victory over the Titans. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to post ten more assists than your opponent, as University did.
University's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Haley Caldwell led the charge by scoring 13 points along with three steals. It was the first time this season that Caldwell grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacqueline Leap, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Timber Creek's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell to Gateway 41-37.
University's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-11. As for Timber Creek, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 15-9.
University suffered a grim 60-35 defeat to the Wolves when the teams last played back in January. Can University avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
