Harrison is 9-1 against West Lafayette since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Raiders will host the Red Devils at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Harrison has three straight victories, West Lafayette has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Monday, Harrison was able to grind out a solid win over Frankfort, taking the game 5-2.
Harrison got a great performance from Lyrik Neal as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Neal has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kaden Keys, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between West Lafayette and Rossville, and Rossville kept the tradition alive. The Red Devils came up short against the Hornets on Monday, falling 10-4.
Joe Doty made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylon Crisp, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Harrison's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for West Lafayette, they now have a losing record of 8-9.
Harrison's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's match. The Raiders have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for West Lafayette, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Harrison continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Harrison's way against West Lafayette in their previous meeting back in April, as Harrison made off with an 11-0 victory. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
