Doane Academy will take on the Maple Shade Wildcats at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
While Doane Academy didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 17-6 margin over Pemberton on Monday. Doane Academy hasn't had any issues with Pemberton recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Raegan Portadin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hannah Gusrang, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Jailyn Glass, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.
Doane Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .559. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, while Maple Shade put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Willingboro. The Wildcats blew past the Chimeras 27-0. The Wildcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Like Doane Academy, Maple Shade also got a great game from a two-way player: Mackenzie Myers. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Myers was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.
In other batting news, Madeline Sylvia and Melayna Bowman did most of the damage at the plate: Sylvia went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple, while Bowman went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Alivia Diebert was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Maple Shade is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Doane Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Doane Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Maple Shade struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Doane Academy took their victory against Maple Shade in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 14-4 score. Does Doane Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Maple Shade turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
