Basketball Game Preview: Munroe Bobcats vs. Sneads Pirates

The Munroe Bobcats will face off against the Sneads Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Munroe has three straight victories, Sneads has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Munroe is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Wakulla: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Munroe blew Wakulla out of the water with a 72-32 final score. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 313th, while the War Eagles are ranked 675th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Munroe to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zy Reese, who went 8 of 13 en route to 18 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave Reese a new career-high in points. Zelden Chukes was another key player, going 6 for 9 on his way to 12 points and three steals.

Munroe was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Sneads ended up a good deal behind Graceville on Thursday and lost 66-47.

Munroe's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.6 points per game. As for Sneads, their loss dropped their record down to 4-17.

Everything came up roses for Munroe against Sneads in their previous meeting back in January, as the team secured a 68-35 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Munroe since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
