It was a good run, but the Burlington Cougars unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were dealt a 76-37 loss at the hands of Goodland. Burlington has struggled against the Cowboys recently, as their game on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Burlington still got an impressive performance from Keziah Williams, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Williams has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Thomas Schaal, who scored three points.
Burlington's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-7. As for Goodland, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2.
Burlington will take on the Badgers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Jordan Rockwell and Williams. As for Goodland, they will head out on the road to square off against the Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Holcomb will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 60th, while the Cowboys are ranked seventh).
