Peoria Notre Dame is 1-9 against Normal Community since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. At the plate, Peoria Notre Dame saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lawson Alwan, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Normal Community came tearing into Monday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Vikings an 18-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Ironmen, who have now won four contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Tyler Swanson looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk).
On the hitting side, Andrew Naour was incredible, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. Holden Baldwin was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
Normal Community pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Peoria Notre Dame, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Peoria Notre Dame hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Normal Community struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
