Cardinal Stritch extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 4-8. They took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Start Spartans. The Cardinals were not able to make up for their loss to the Spartans from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

Shawn Weatherford was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Cardinal Stritch: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Rosales, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
As for Start, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.3 runs over those games.
On Start's side, Emari Green made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave Green a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs.
In other batting news, Start got a massive performance out of Kolbe Roesner, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave Roesner a new career-high. Angelo Lopez was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cardinal Stritch will challenge Port Clinton at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The Redskins have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.13 runs per game on average), something the Cardinals will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Start, they will square off against Emmanuel Christian at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.67 runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
