Given Victory Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 249th, while Mar Vista is ranked 692nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Victory Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayden Gray out in front who scored 23 points along with nine assists and five steals. That's the first time this season that Gray posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Derek Edmond, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Victory Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for Mar Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
