The Belleview Christian Bruins had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 45 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They took down Denver Waldorf 72-53. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Belleview Christian also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Belleview Christian was led to victory by Garrett Owen and Brandon Ewing. Owen scored 24 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Ewing dropped a triple-double on 16 points, ten rebounds, and 13 assists. Ewing is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jagga Sandhu, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Denver Waldorf lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cayden Quinn, who scored 27 points along with six rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Quinn has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Henry Lottridge, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Denver Waldorf struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Belleview Christian pushed their record up to 9-1 with that win, which was their 16th straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points per game. As for Denver Waldorf, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Belleview Christian won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Front Range Christian at 2:30 p.m. on January 12th. Front Range Christian is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Denver Waldorf, they will head out on the road to face off against Denver Jewish Day at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Denver Jewish Day is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 56 points per game.
