Marietta was the  39-37 winner over Etowah when they last played one another  last Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Marietta Blue Devils fell just short of the Etowah Eagles by a score of  53-51 on Friday. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the  defeat, Marietta saw an underclassman step up: freshman  Leah DeWitt  went 10-for-21  to rack up 30  points. DeWitt is becoming a predictor of Marietta's success: when she posts  at  least 25 points the team is 11-5 (and 4-8 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of  Mckenzie Everett, who  posted 12  points.
 Even though they lost, Marietta  smashed the offensive glass and  finished the game with 13  offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  pulled down at least 11  offensive rebounds in four consecutive  matchups.
Marietta's record is now 15-13. As for Etowah, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won three of their last four games,  which provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record  this season.
As of now, neither Marietta nor Etowah have any future games scheduled.
