The Peak to Peak Pumas managed to keep up with the Colorado Academy Mustangs until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Peak to Peak ended up on the wrong side of a rough 48-28 walloping at the hands of Colorado Academy. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Peak to Peak has scored all season.
Peak to Peak's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Alexandra Eschmeyer, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds, and Charley Miller who scored 14 points. That was a full 42.9% of Peak to Peak's points, marking the 11th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Colorado Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anna Johnson, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Skylar May, who scored two points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Peak to Peak's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Colorado Academy, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-4.
Peak to Peak will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Eagle Ridge Academy at 10:00 a.m. Hopefully Eagle Ridge Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Wednesday. As for Colorado Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Jefferson Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Jefferson Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Thursday.
