El Primero had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 3-7 to make it four. They fell just short of the KIPP San Jose Collegiate Wolfpack by a score of 17-16. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolfpack this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-4 two weeks ago.

Tania Lopez was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and 12 unearned) runs off four hits. Lopez was even better at the plate, going 2-for-5 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, Kelsy Munguia and Akira Elemen stepped up to the plate in a big way. Munguia went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Elemen went 1-for-4 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Munguia is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Tanny Perez, who earned two runs and two stolen bases.
As for KIPP San Jose Collegiate, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games.
On KIPP San Jose Collegiate's side, the team relied heavily on Amaris Vallez, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four RBI. That home run marked the first that Vallez has launched this season. Dulcemaria Monroy was another key player, going 2-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Looking ahead, El Primero will head out on the road to take on Design Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. KIPP San Jose Collegiate does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
